Influence: How Being Wrong is Controlling You
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We’ve been talking about being wrong the last couple of days. It’s so fundamental to making our dreams come true.
So… it’s officially it’s own miniseries: Being Wrong Miniseries
In Being Wrong #1, we talked about how it can be easy to react instead of listen, defend instead of learn, when we are faced with being wrong.
It is so common that it’s one of the easiest ways we get influenced into decisions.
It’s called Commitment and Consistency: once people make up their minds, they tend not to change them–even in the face of facts to the contrary.
This leads to a Fixed Mindset instead of a Growth Mindset.
Back when I was trading 200 Billion a day, I used this to great effect. I would people constructive criticism on something they did and see how they responded.
Whether they instantly start making excuses or justifying a mistake, or they listened and adjusted, it gave me deep insight into the person.
What I did with that insight depended on whether they were a counterparty, a broker, a trader, one of the guys on my desk, or one of my assistants.
Willingness to be wrong – and loving it – is very telling, whether it’s in ourselves or in the people we choose to surround ourselves with.
Choose well!

P.S. We’re going to take a few days away from the Being Wrong Miniseries in order to bring back the 3 delusions emails. Many of you couldn’t find the emails from before and there have been a lot of new members to the Practical LOA family recently who never received them.
Whether you’ve read them before or not, study them carefully. This is one of the most powerful exercises we can do for ourselves!
