Being Wrong Miniseries #8

The Key to Knowing When We're Wrong
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the 15th of the month and that means...
We're half way done with our 30 day challenge! How many singles do you have left in your pile?
I have 8. But there are certainly several times when I came close to giving away even more. It has been a great self-reflecting experience that has given me a ton of feedback.
If you've been diligent in the challenge, I know it has been for you, too!
... And it has been an excellent exercise of the skill we need to recognize when we are wrong.
By now, we know that we need to constantly grow and change – to welcome being wrong.
But, in order to admit when we’re wrong, we need to know when we’re wrong.
And this requires another skill: good judgment.
Because, let’s face it. Sometimes, we ARE right and everyone around us really is wrong.
“Talent is like a marksman who hits a target which others cannot reach; genius is like a marksman who hits a target which others cannot see.” —Arthur Schopenhauer
So how do you know when to listen and when to persevere? When the critic is right and when it’s really just about their egos? When to change and when to stay the course?
I’ll share the secret to receiving and evaluating feedback in the next email to keep these emails simple with a single takeaway.
So to summarize all that we’ve talked about in Being wrong #1-5: Those who are never wrong are rarely right.
