Learning at Inward Gaze Institute
Qigong is much more than series of exercises and stances in much the same way Yoga is much more than poses and stretching.
Inward Gaze Institute was founded on the premise that simply teaching the motions, while beneficial, fails to impart the true
art and benefits of qigong. Qigong is a complete system, and as such addresses all the aspects of a person: body, spirit, mind,
emotion, and energy. In doing so, all the areas that affect our well-being are covered. These can be broken down into:
1) Our eating Habits
2) Our drinking Habits
3) Our Exercise Habits
4) Our Breathing Habits
5) Our Resting Habits
6) Philosophy - Our Thought Patterns and Thinking Habits
The common thread throughout is our habits. Habits cover not only what we do, but when we do it, how we do it, and how much/often
we do it. Our habits are the actions we engage in automatically without consciously thinking about them. Since we spend far more
time engaging in automatic, unnoticed behavious, they have a much greater impact on our lives than our conscious activities. By
changing our habits, the change we seek in our lives becomes easy and automatic.
In order to help change those habits, information is delivered in several ways. In the 1970's the idea of individual learning styles
emerged, with emphasis on the method of sensory input. While it is true that each of us are naturally better at learning from one
style of input over the others, it is also true that we are all capable of learning through each method of input and the more ways
we receive information, the better and more quickly we learn it. With this in mind, to maximize your learning, Inward Gaze
Institute delivers information to you through:
1) Reading Materials
2) Audio Files
3) Videos
4) Live Instruction
5) Interaction With Other Students at Live Events
