In the Money Miniseries, we’ve been talking about how money is simply energy passing from one hand to another.

In Money Miniseries #5, we learned the Tao of Flowing money:

If I want to increase my flow of money, then I must give people a reason to be grateful for me and express their appreciation for me.

This is actually the basis of the biblical principle “Give and you shall receive.” But, just like the Gurus, the message is not always clear or easy to understand.

The entire verse looks like this:

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

-Luke 6:38


Let’s take a look at that in terms of the Tao of Flowing of Money.

“Give and you will receive”
Provide a reason for people to be grateful for you and they will show their appreciation.

“Your gift will return to you in full – pressed down, shaken together …”
The energy of appreciation is condensed and formed into its physical expression: money.

“…to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap.”
The more reason you give, the more you provide, the greater the flow towards you.

“The amount you give will determine the amount you give back.”
If you want a lot of money flow, then give a lot of people a lot of reason to be grateful to you.

Notice that it’s not “Receive and you shall give.” We must provide reason for people to appreciate us before the flow of money gets turned on.

The best way to get people to appreciate us is to:
1) Solve problems
2) Deliver value

The more problems we solve and more value we deliver to for the more people, the more appreciation flows our way.

Note that not all of it comes back in the form of money. It comes back in services, cooperation, people doing things that make us feel good.

If we want money specifically, then we need large amounts of appreciation flowing our way.

That’s because money is the physical form of appreciation. As described by Einstein’s E=mc2, all physical forms are the condensed version of the energetic equivalent. Matter is the condensed form of energy.

Probably the clearest way for me to explain this is with an example.

When I happen to be entering or exiting a building, there are often other people about to pass through the doors as well. I open the door for them. My act of service provided them a reason to show me appreciation. But it was a small act, and so I get a small amount of appreciation in the form of a smile or a “Thank you.”

But if I am a doorman, I open the door thousands of people thousands of times every day. Each one of those people is grateful and their thousands of “thank you's” condense and manifest in the form of my paycheck.

Sometimes I open the door for the same person every day multiple times a day. That person has more reason to be grateful to me than the stranger who I opened the door for just once. And so all of that person’s gratitude and appreciation condenses into an occasional tip or a larger year-end tip.

So in order to have more money flow into and through our lives, we need to cause large amounts of gratitude and appreciation to be directed towards us.
